@spendius,

I miss Smorgs. Don't you? It was nice to see her lovely self around these pages, and the Thread was a lot livelier then.

Still enjoying my book, although I only manage a few pages a night before entering the realm of Morpheus.

@spendius,
Here's a bit of British.

When the Beatles journeyed to India to find out the meaning of life from a Big Guru Ringo packed 2 cases of baked beans in his luggage.

@spendius,
In what, 1968? Is that information released by the Home Office under the 40-year rule?

@McTag,
I don't know. I'm not a Beatles fan. I like Ringo though. I read it somewhere. It sounded authentic.

@spendius,

I remember reading that when the Beatles first went to Hamburg, they lived on CornFlakes.

Me, when I went there, I liked the Wurst and Kartoffelsalat from the street vendors. We were young then.
And we went into the Star Club off the Reeperbahn and when the curtains opened, it was "Die Big Six aus Glasgow".

Have you ever had a Bakewell Tart, more properly termed pudding, if you get an authentic one? They are scrumptious.
Tomorrow, on my way south where with any luck I will see Steve and Walter, I am planning to get a supply of the pukka article in Bakewell, it's not too far out of the way, mindful of the carbon footprint, to take with me. Hey don't tell Steve, it'll be a surprise, unless the shop's shut.

Note that capital T. This is not a Jennifer Whiteside story.

@Steve 41oo,
Did anybody see The Elizabethan Express on BBC Four tonight? What a great film. It gave a good idea of what it was like when the general public was completely stupid. Plus some great shots.

If I was teaching sociology that short movie would be part of a project.

@spendius,
No I didn't see it.

I've been everywhere, man, Chelmsford, Maldon, and London.
I had a nice time.
I got the Bakewell puddings.

I picked up a hitchhiker on the M1 yesterday, Tom the musician, on the way back. He was interesting to talk to.

I'm going to Kirkcudbright today, Edinburgh tomorrow, back insh'allah tomorrow night. Byee.

@spendius,
Hi spendi, we didn't go to well in today's test against India, almost came to 'fisty-cuffs', 3/419 at the moment spells disaster I think. I'd thought I tell you just in case you missed the news. Smile

@Dutchy,
Hi Dutch--

613 for 7 dec. eh? Poor old Hayden. Nearly two days in the field and having to bat for an hour. Tough stuff.

I'm watching it now.

@Walter Hinteler,
Walter! Shocked

The Daily Mirror knows no better! It's another of those crap Pom papers! Notice no mention at all of the shellacking the Poms got on the return Ashes series in 2007 - clobbered 5 - 0.

You, on the other hand, are not usually unkind. I'm surprised at your making fun of us in a time of extreme national distress, turmoil, etc. Disappointed, I am.

We shall overcome! (made a slightly better fist of it, batting in India)
