I was under the impression that magna carta (and various revisions and alterations) served the purpose of a constitution.

In a country where gangs of "feral" youths frequently attack ambulances and fire engines, I think it's about time the citizenry's obligations as well as their rights are explained to them.

After that, I would advocate zero tolerance until we all start pulling in the same direction. We've heard too much about people's rights. Let's concentrate for a while on their obligations.

I think we'll have to bring back corporal punishment and capital punishment. Things have gone too far, I fear, for touchy-feely methods and social reports.

I presume you are in favour of starting large scale riots Mac and us being expelled from the EU.

A completely docile society would just wither away.

I think that when a society is unable to unable to explain this, no oath nor punishment can do it. Quite the opposite - as history tells.

No respect for schoolteachers, or for the police or any authority.
Yobbish behaviour. Littering. No respect for private property.
Do we continue to wring our hands and say tut, tut?

My pal had an idea, which would improve matters in schools, if not elsewhere: let attendance at school be voluntary after age 12.

Many of the gangs and groups of young people who indulge themselves in this and similar ways, live in social housing.
Lett occupation of such housing be conditional on good behaviour of ALL the occupants. Let parents take responsibilty for their children's behaviour, or lose their subsidised homes.

Zero tolerance.

Well, that neither really worked in fascist nor in communist countries properly.

But why not try it again....

HRH Philip Mountbatten Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg Denmark Greece etc. had been here, celebrating St. Patrick's Day with the Queen's Own Hussars.

Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!

Saint Paddy's Day is the 17th, but they had to shift it this year because of some abstruse theological calculations and pontifical edicts.

Nobody has deigned to take my suggestions seriously.

The prisons are full, and crime is increasing.

I propose to round 'em up, line 'em up and shoot 'em.

Pour encourager les autres.

Now you're talking. In Oz, you have droughts, yes? And we have thugs and other youth needing to be weaned off drugs.

We could put them on a slow boat to Australia where they could be forcibly employed digging wells and carrying water.

It could be a win-win situation.

You could crucify them at the motorway intersections Mac.

That would sort it out quick.

Shooting them is a bit humane don't you think?

Are you squeamish or what?

We can't have your bourgeois sensibilities standing in the way of a final solution.

Hmm, but since "they" (the theologicans and the pontifex) created that ...

Damn right!

I've been living in social housing and taking drugs!

PLEASE ship me off to Australia.

That's why I'm up at 6.02, having a cuppa, ready to put on me thermals and me hoodie to join the picket.

Everybody out!

Civil Servants on strike.

Then I'm off to B&Q to get some emulsion for the ceiling.

Well, I'm up, too, but it's an hour later here.

And I'm going to get some emulsion later as well - but at the pharmacy

Good morning, my dear!

Did you know that St Patrick was Welsh?

AND there are no snakes in Ireland or New Zealand.

Just thought I's share.
