My friend's son's wife quite likes fish, she says, but only if it's breaded. The process it undergoes before it earns the Cap'n Birdseye stamp would probably horrify her.

I must admit to having a weakness for fish fingers, as long as they're covered in Heinz ketchup and wrapped in Mother's Pride.

Quiet here, innit?

Have most of the Brits emigrated? Maybe Spendius, Mathos, Steve and others are at this moment enlisting in a job centre in suburban Sydney.

Somehow I can't see Spendius as an ex pat Australian. He would spend his time searching for culture and end up being directed to the yoghurt section of Tescoz. Very Happy

As we come up to Hogmanay, it's a time for looking back and thinking about old friends. I miss Lord Ellpus; he was a good writer, always with a smile and a merry quip.

I wonder where he is now- probably spent Crimbo in France at his gite.

Here's to the noble lord anyways, may his chestnuts never explode.

Don't worry, Muckty.

I'm sure LE is still with us.

Spendy likes opera and Mahler, or so he tells us, but he still has amazingly depressed taste, even for a Yorkshireman. He'd fit in well in Oz I think, the land of Nellie Melba and Sir Les Patterson.

Mathos told us he was going to Thailand. Looking out at today's weather, I think he made a sensible choice.

We went up on a hill walk today, to Shining Tor above the Cat & Fiddle.
Cold, and blowing a gale, but the sun was out this morning.

Just watched a great DVD called KNOCKED UP. Terrible title, but a most excellent film. Watched it from my sick bed clutching tissues and reeking of Olbas oil - damn sexy, if you ask me!

Do get it out, Muckty. You'll like it.

Just watched two football matches .... at Goodison Park, and before the Magpies in their last match under Big Sam?

I've seen it, I agree it's a hoot. I think my son must have recommended it.
Keep those recommendations coming. How did you like I Am Leg End?

I have realised why barmaids are to the taste of refined gentlemen. It is because they smell of beer. It is an additional frisson like basques and suspender belts are for the those of the liberal persuasion.

No sweat dp. I have no travel plans. Those women in Neighbours and the aerobics lessons look a pretty daunting prospect.

Not forgetting Prisoner in Cell Block H.

I see you Brits are staying away from your computers.
That's not a bad thing.
Hogmanay's a quiet day till later. I went into town today on the bus, to have a look round the music shop.
Then I had a curry at Malu's.
A Bombay belly-buster.
Will I have enough room for Xmas cake and nibbles later?
Time alone will tell.

Odd, that Rabbie Burns' words to an old tune "Auld Lang Syne" will be sung all over the world tonight.

I think it's a nice thought.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And days of auld lang syne....

Just got in from work...

All's quiet in the Jobcentre - if you want a crisis loan now, you will have to call the out of hours service as we have all gone home.

Happy New Year everyone!
