Hi,

I'm trying to connect to a computer having windows 2000 advanced server & get the message "Server allows NTLM authentication only
Server has closed connection". I've started telnet service on the server & have an administrative password for that. What is wrong? Rolling Eyes

Just disable NTLM authentication:

Open the Telnet Server Administration tool > Display / change registry settings (this is usually number 3) > NTLM (usually number 7)

Then it will say:

Current value of NTLM = 2
Do you want to change this value ? [y/n]y
NTLM [ current value = 2; acceptable values 0, 1 or 2 ] :

Use 0

Then restart telnet.

Crying or Very sad I'm sorry but I didn't find it. You said:

NTLM [ current value = 2; acceptable values 0, 1 or 2 ] :

Use 0 "

I couldn't find these settings in telnet service properties.

Hmm, those instructions should work if you are running a, non-Microsoft telnet client.

I don't think I'll be able to help if that's not it you as I disable all telnet services on any computer I use.
