I just finished my masters and am going for the PhD. My interests are in circuit design(especially analog and RF), signal processing, EM theory, and communication. What is the best field to go into right now? Where is the future headed?

"The New Wave" is Wireless, and the "Next Wave" is photonics, IMO. Assuming that what you wanna be doing in 10 years somehow relates to turning your education into income, I'd say looking to R&D and/or Application & Deployment in either of those 2 technologies should be a fair bet ... seems you have the required prerequisites down, and you appear to have the interest. If I were you, I'd couple the PhD with a very strong minor in neurophysiology.
