I'm doing OK. The DST really didn't effect me all that much because I'm always in the dark. Laughing

That was funny. Laughing Laughing I just woke up so I am going to go outside and smoke. Marlboro sent me a bunch of coupons for Parliament. I don't smoke those. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

They are relocating our offices to another building either today or tomorrow, so I may be scarce. Not any good rationale for the move, just typical govt BS. I need to retire and get an RV! Rolling Eyes

Amen to that brother. Unfortunately I won't be able to do that for another 12 to 15 years. God that's depressing. Crying or Very sad

Actually Unkie, we could probably all do it tomorrow if we didn't mind a sharp decline in our standard of living. I'm nearing that point where I just may say to Hell with it all and make the leap! Mad

Why wait if you can now, you never know what the future holds. Sometimes you just have to take the chance. Money isn't everything.

I still enjoy what I'm doing 98% of the time. But there are times that I would like to just walk away and find something with a stress level of zero.

My percentage is much, much lower these days. I actually find it painful to show up here. They could fix it easily, but won't take the time. I'm practicing my "you want fries with that?" Laughing

It's funny you should say that. I've got it down to that or "Welcome to Wal-mart" Laughing

Thanks for listening Unkie. It really sucks to just work for a paycheck. I've tried to "create challenges" to make things more interesting, but the powers that be aren't interested. The word around here is "STATUS QUO". I've been denied opportunities to work more challenging areas because they know I will want to make improvements. The folks they hire are just expected to show up and shut up! Mad

I understand your frustration. I guess that people who work for the government realize early on that you can't change the system very easily and resign themselves to that fact.
If you have that attitude in the private sector your competition will eat you alive.

I just hired a "green" kid as a trainee estimator, he's just out of school and very eager. One of the first things I told him was if he can think of a better or more efficient way to do something I want to hear about it. It always helps to have freash perspective. I've been doing this for so long it's the "forest for the trees" syndrom.

Exactly. I've known people who gotten a government job and said now I set for life, all I've got to do now is put in my 20 years and collect my pension. It's a sad commentary but a fact of life.

OK I think my dreary drabble has scared everyone off. Let's liven things up a bit and maybe get {{{{Ben}}}} to join in! I really want to hear her explanation for sand-bagging us this last week. Come on BEN!
