Embarrassed oh my...

(that's the nicest thing anybody ever said to me in this forum!)

The pleasure is all mine, m'lady!

No Chumly, you don't have to.

But I believe it is healthy to, not by default as you put it, but by a natural feeling of sorrow/disappointment that comes.

Too often we bottle up these feelings to the point where we are not able
to express them anymore, which might lead to other problems, physical
as well as mental.

A favorite of mine.

ROUGH TRANSLATION
Nantes by Barbara.

It's raining in Nantes.
Take my hand.
The Nantes sky fills my heart
With melancholy.

On a morning like this
Just a year ago
The town was pallid
As I left the station.

Nantes was unfamiliar to me
I was there for the first time.
I had made the journey
In response to an urgent message.

Madame you must come to
25 Rue de la Grange au Loup
Come quickly as there is little hope
He wants to see you.

In these his last hours
After many years astray
His heart had opened to me
A cry tearing through the silence
All the while he was gone
I had hoped for this
That elusive scoundrel
And now here he was..

25 Rue de la Grange au loup.
I remember that place
It is engraved in my mind
That room at the end of a corridor

Seated by the hearth
Four men rose to their feet
In the cold pale light
Dressed in their Sunday suits.

I had nothing to ask
These strange companions
There was nothing to say
From their looks I knew it was too late.

Despite having reached the rendez-vous
at 25 Rue de la Grange au Loup
He would never see me again
He had already gone.

Now you.'ve heard the story
He had returned one evening
And that was his last journey
His last port of call.
Before he died
He had yearned once more for the warmth of my smile.
But he passed away that night without a "Goodbye" or "I love you".

On a path by the sea
Lying in a graveyard
I hope he is now at peace
Resting beneath the roses.

My fatherÂ….My father.

I've seen it happen, but no, it doesn't have to.

Hope this makes sense but often I've felt a real (at least to me) sense of profoundness, when, if I'm feeling bad, instead of searching for a resolution or reacting against the feeling in any way, I've just kind of "rested" with said feeling. It's not a, "oh well these things happen" position though, far from it, just more of a willingness to experience the immediate feeling instead of pushing it away.

The feeling of profoundness has, at times, easily been the equal of moments in euphoria though.

God made Robert Smith for just such occasions.

Yes Ashers, I know what you mean.

That's why I like the word embrace. Not meaning to cling, nor to hang
on to loosely, but to "rest inside."

Sorry Eorl, who is Robert Smith by the way? (E M I)
