Computer slows down/overheats

I was just wondering what is causing my computer to slow down and overheat? I just got my computer reformatted and my hard drive replaced and when I run too many programs instantly it starts to slow down and drive the fan crazy. Is it normal for the computer to act this way even if it's brand new?

What can I do to prevent it from over heating? I use the compressed air to clean the fans. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Maybe your CPU fan isn't working like it should. You can try using a program to check your CPU temp if you haven't done that already.
