I was just wondering how can I get rid of the notice where it shows how many e-mails we have unread, etc. it's at the very beginning where we turn on our computer where we click onto log into windows. Thanks.

It can be enabled/disabled/customized via simple registry edit; see Microsoft - Overview: of the mail notification display on the Windows XP Welcome screen

Note: If you are going to modify a registry key, Back Up That Key Before Making Any Changes

If you download and install Microsoft's TweakUI, Welcome Screen eMail updates may be toggled on and off via a TweakUI applet:
1. Start Tweak UI.
2. Click the "Repair" option in the left-hand pane of the dialog box.
3. Select "Repair unread mail count" in the right-hand pane, then click "Repair Now".
4. Close Tweak UI.
