Is there an internet site to buy used stuff in your area?
Every now and then I hear of someone buying a used car or something, and when I asked them where they got it, they said they got it off the internet from someone fairly nearby.
I know Ebay is national. So I was wondering where exactly these people go to find people right in their area selling things-sort an internet tag sale, I guess.
Anybody know anything about this? A friend has a PA amplifier which quit, and I wonder if I can find him a good used one, (I taught him how to use the computer and so I'm sort of his internet guru, lol).
You can also limit your eBay purchasing and selling to a limited area, for example, from 10 -200 miles of a zipcode. CraigsList is easier and completely free. EBay will take a small percentage of the sale price.
If you do use CraigsList, it is handy to get an account so that if you need to repeat an ad, it will be very easy to find and restart. It is simple but time-consuming to put together an ad. The ad is, however, ephemeral. Just a couple of days ago I tried to "drag" a photo while adding it to the ad instead of adding it by copying the image. I ended up losing all the ad copy* which I'd carefully written. Grrr, I hadn't the foresight to back it up anywhere, of course. *I may have said a bad word or two.
