I have Corel Paint shop XI. I took the time to remove the background of a picture of my sons dressed as pirates to add a background of a pirate ship. I erased the background so that it is white and only the boys are left and I have a second picture of a pirate ship that I want to put the boys pic on. When I use the arithematic thing to add two images together I get a very funny looking pic. Is there a way to cut around the boys picture so that I can get it to look like they are standing on the ship. right now they look like ghosts and you can't really see the new background.
I haven't used Corel in a long time but from what I remember....
you have to make the background "clear" - delete it, not make it white, and then marry the photos.
Hopefully someone will come along with more Corel know how than me!
But I'll give you a little bump in the forum!
I've used the mask technique described in this tutorial:

Basically, you make one photo a layer and copy it on top of the other and then use the tools to erase the portions you want to reveal from the other photo. When finished, merge the layers.
