A while back, I saw a show on Animal Planet about bad-ass animals. Numero uno without any question was the honey badger. I just watched a rerun of that show. It reminded me of the honey badger. Could there be a bad-assier animal?

@Builder,
The tasmanian devil was most definitely mentioned. Just not no. 1.

To my surprise and disappointment, the wolverine was overlooked.

To be honest, the little devils are more talk, than action. Tough jaws, but I can't recall hearing of anyone being bitten. That honey badgers looks totally bad-ass, even in a photo.

As an aside, I was camping in the highlands of Tassie, and a devil made off with my folding egg-flip. Not sure what he'd want with one, but I'd been cooking dinner with it an hour before.

@Builder,
Raccoons are bad about stuff like that, too. It wouldn't pay to get physical with them, either.

@roger,
LOL, I've seen videos of them on the attack.

Our brushtail possums can turn very nasty in no time at all.

Quolls are another ball game altogether.

@Builder,
I don't know that I require human carnage in order to classify an animal as bad ass.

Another animal mentioned is the mantis shrimp. The ocean is filled with danger. If a shark doesn't get your leg, a steenkin' shrimp will get your toe.

What a world.

We used to spear striped mantis shrimp in the west Kimberley on a rising tide. Had to watch out for crocodiles, so it was a case of being middle of the food chain to get fed. Tasty critters.

They have a full screen gif/short video of the bird in action at the top of the page that I wish I could capture and produce here. But alas....

It's a Snail Kite. The very large image at the homepage of the Audubon site is the video image.
