Mesquite, A newly found species? And most wonderful to look at. Thanks.

Hamburger, My last encounter with a Canada goose was in the Bronx. Apparently it was a stopping point on their migration. I came out of my parents' building and saw two large birds (by Bronx standards) waddling across a bit of grass. I smile as I remember it. No honking. No mess. Just two grand boids.

Rosborne, Glad you like the shrike. I agree--fantastic.

I was watching a nature show--The Life of Mammals. This episode was about opportunists. Omnivores. One of the most successful in the western hemisphere:

The photo was taken in NYC, where the raccoon population continues to grow.

And a successful city dweller in England is the red fox:

osso, Dem frogs is something, huh?

Hi c.i., Good to see you. The desert fox in the photo is called a fennec. It's the smallest of all the foxes. The purpose of those gigantic ears is not so much acute hearing as it is to help the fox cool off. Wonderful looking little guy, isn't it.

That is one spectacular photo, satt. Thanks for posting. Here's a picture of the booby when it's not sailing on the wind:
