@Barry The Mod,
Reg, A flying whale! I know whales breach, but this guy ain't messing around. I think of the photographer, being there at just the right moment with the camera in focus.

osso, Seagulls and bunnies. Not together, but an interesting combo.

vonny, A white tiger. Gawgeous. What's the green bird? I like its looks. Methinks you're a fox fan. Love that head sticking out of the hole. Needed smelling salts upon viewing the koala and baby. Cute and beautiful. Is that leopard on ice? Where is it from? Must be Asia. There appears to be some dissension in the swallow department. Great shot. Calm down, boids. The lions are beauties. Wow.

c.i., Beautiful little Israeli bird. And stunning parrot from Oz.

HH, A wombat group hug! Great shot.

tsar, You saw a black squirrel in Prospect Park? They must be migrating south. What the hell is a Bronx rodent doing in Brooklyn?

Hey, London. Love seeing those military dogs doing the dog paddle--and keeping cool. Holy doody, that's one big horse. Gawgeous, too. Big.

rosborne, Amazing. A hole in the water. Also not a complete coincidence that it's shaped like a dolphin?

@Roberta,
I like in situ animal photos, however lame they are as non pro photos, she says defensively, not that you said you don't like them. I like the everyday what is in front of you photos best.

I mean it, I like 'caught' photos better than the slickies. Part of why I liked Gary Winograd re photography.

Which reminds me of Korea, a book about Slicky Boys, by Martin Limon.

FBM may know it.

That would explain why they follow you round the room....

I find it eerily serendipitous that the compound eye which evolved hundreds of millions of years before lensed eyes, should happen to possess a reflective structure which not only resembles the pupil of an eye, but actually appears to follow the observer. That's just too cool.

Just try to convince yourself that the mantis below is not looking at you.

@vonny,
osso, I too like capture-the-moment photos. When I saw the pic of the seagull, I had no idea what I was looking at. I also had some trouble finding the bunnies. Sorry if you got the feeling that I didn't like your pics. I ALWAYS like your pics, kid.

vonny, Liking the dusty herd of pachyderms. Love seeing the different ages all lined up. The running herd is just a bunch of nervous nellies. The cheetah in the background isn't even running--yet. Great shot. The bird has caught a mouthful.

rosborne, I believe ya. He's looking right at me. Hey, bug. Go stare at somebody else.

Orange seal, ostracised for being ginger, is almost blind, but was adopted by a Russian zoo.

Members of the New York National Guard are reunited with eight mixed breed dogs that they found while on patrol in Afghanistan earlier this year, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. A 65-pound mixed breed named Sheba was "adopted" by the team of soldiers earlier this year. When Sheba had a litter of puppies in March, the soldiers helped Sheba nurse them to health. A New York organization raised funds to have the dogs sent to the United States, where they will be adopted by the soldiers. (AP Photo/Frank Eltman)
