@vonny,
Pity Farmerman isn't on this thread much, I want to know the significance of the black dots on the mantis's compound eyes - clearly they aren't pupils but they remind you of them.

@Roberta,
The blue bird is so captivating! Of course there are some so beautiful that they simply stop our breath. I once saw a colorful butterfly flapping its wind agaisnt a bright red flower. Before i could grab my camera it flew away! Ahh my bad!

Roberta, I think you'll like this video, but then again, maybe not. I have my own qualms at the same time I'm very interested. I've read about these 2 races a year, going on for centuries now - for years of my own. I'd never be in that crowd, though I like the city.

Such wonderful pics, you guys. If I didn't have a headache, I'd say something about each one. BTW, I appreciate seeing a few of my favorite animals in this batch. Chimp and pigeons. Never saw a baby caracal before. You pipples is da best.

Black squirrel (I've seen a few of these in the north Bronx.)

Now you're just being silly, everyone knows pupils are in school.

@vonny,
vonny, I'm loving the expression onthe cheetah cub's face. I think that baby wants something and is hoping for a yes from mom. The minute I saw the picture of the tiger cub dangling from its mother's mouth, I thought about the power of that mouth and how gentle the mother has to be. Great shot. That's a very cute kitten. Very cute. Thanks for them all.

@Roberta,
Yesterday when I was at the pool, I saw a wasp doing just this.
I thought it was amazing, as there were a lot of people in the pool, and it had landed like this in one of the lap lanes.
At first I thought it was in trouble, and got concerned when a lap swimmer came swimming through.
The wasp just fly up about a foot until the swimmer passed, and landed right back down in the same spot.

Wasps really love water, they always go right to it when I refill my bird bath (in this weather every other day)

@chai2,
chai, Didn't know that about wasps. That's a great shot. Interesting how it spreads its legs out to stay on top of the water.
