@vonny,
I don't know...
will go post a bit on the Katy thread in a minute.

Meantime, here's a slide show of horses at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia:

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/photobooth/2013/03/charlotte-dumas.html#slide_ss_0=1

Here's one:

Oy vey, sorry about the size of the photo. Good thing I'm not posting all eight photos.

@ossobuco,
Thanks for the update on the Katy thread. And thank you so much for the link to the glorious photographs of horses. Charlotte Dumas seems to have captured the very essence of the animal.

@ossobuco,
butrfly, Such beauties. A treehouse for a cat. A gawgeous haws. The bunny and cat could be friends.

firefly, Trying not to thud. Adorable piglets and great color and markings on the adults. Have I seen these pigs before? Not sure.

edgar, That's one pushy bird. Great shot. Thanks.

osso, I'm overwhelmed. What great shots. The pic of the swans in the snow takes my breath away. Such beauty. Thanks for them all.

@Phoenix32890,
Alas, I have what I hope is a temporary lack of Adobe flash, so I can't see that, Phoe.
Roberta - now I'm going to look up info on Quolls.. striking looking, that one is.

I'll add this one:

http://ww3.hdnux.com/photos/20/24/53/4279002/0/940x583.jpg

That's from a slide show on the Iditarod.
I've always been somewhat wary about the iditarod, in the same way I get about horse racing (which I tend to love while thinking it is sometimes cruelty). Far as I have read, though, the dogs really like the run, as do horses.

The slide show is at:

Adds, it's a great slide show.

@ossobuco,
Phoenix, Thanks for the video. My heart needed a good wrenching.

osso, I've always been leery of dog sledding and horse racing. (Even though I've won big at the track.) You're right. These animals are bred to run. And they seem to love it. But it's too damned cold for the dogs. Too damned cold for anything except polar bears.

Speaking of which, a polar bear and a sled dog having some fun:

If you think the joint's hopping now at the Mesa Vista Inn Health Center in San Antonio, wait until they take the cuffs off the wallaby. Happy Tails Entertainment brings its animals to the center about once a month to cheer up the seniors.

These photographs by Alexander Semenov seem to be something out of this world. Actually they are nothing more than very highly magnified photos of the skin of starfish.
