coolwhip, Thanks for the additional fox photos. Missed them earlier. As for the silhouettes, I'd say a grizzley bear and a reindeer. Sure about the bear. Less so about the deer.

mesquite, I hope your daughter has as wonderful a time in Norway as I did.

It could be a grizzly. But if that picture was taken in Norway, which I suspect it was, that is a Brown Bear. Grizzly bears aren't indigenous to Norway. Here's another picture of a Brown Bear on the prowl.

Grizzly bears are only a variation of brown bears.

Yup, grizzlies are brown bears. I thought the bear in the silhouette was a grizzly because of the shoulder hump. If the photo is from Norway, then it ain't a grizzly.

Then to clarify; this was a silhouette of the european brown bear (Ursus arctos arctos). The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) and the european brown bear are, as you said dys, two subspecies of the brown bear.

Those mini donkeys were great, roberta. Thanks.

As a token of my gratitude, here is a chipmunk and his furry white friend (don't remember his english name).

coolwhip, Glad you like the donkeys.

The white guy is an ermine. It's also called a weasel or a stoat. It's white only in the winter.

The chipmunk is in fact a squirrel. I entered "squirrel ears" on google and came up with an Abert squirrel. I don't believe I ever saw one before. Love the look, especially from the side, where it looks like it's sporting a sideways mohawk. A punk squirrel. Thanks for the wonderful photos--great stuff.

You made me think about my trip to Norway. Whenever I'm feeling very stressed or tense, I try to take myself back to the day I was on a boat on a fjord. Surrounded by majestic mountains. Feeling the crisp pure air. Seeing the clear dark water and the pure blue sky. Perfect. This memory calms me and makes me smile.

Here's a chipmunk (love dese guys):

Hmm, I really do know the difference between a swirrel and a chipmink. A slip of the tounge I suppose.
And that white guy is a weasle, now I know.

With your permission (as the initiator of this thread) I'd like to post some absolutely stunning scenerey photographs (from Norway) I came across the other day. Or if you'd like to keep this thread 'animal only', I can just post it in a new thread.
