Do you think Alfred Hitchcock was from around there?

@hingehead,
No, but I once lived on a street called Gretna Green, back in LA. So there you go..

but somehow I don't think Hitch wandered down our street.

I love that one. It has been years since I have seen anything approximating such a sight.

@edgarblythe,
I did see a large number of red winged blackbirds over some fields, maybe near Lompoc, CA, but not as many as in that photo - I've never seen this many.

I've seen photos of large swarms of starlings over Rome (reminds me of some music by Respighi).

Here's one, with a background story -

I just finished that ABC article. Fascinating about the bird formations.

I've been in Rome in October and March and know the sycamore trees they talk about in the article - but have missed seeing these birds doing their thing.

@firefly,
osso, The starling swarm photo is spectacular. Amazing. And wonderful. Thanks, thanks. Enjoying the cat contemplating the turtle, the pig in the street, and the bird in the hand.

RH, Loving the little squirrel monkey. What a face. Is that iguana smiling? Anything is possible.

tsar, A very generous PC. Thanks, kid.

Barry, Thudworthy kitten. Makes me sigh. Beautiful pond and waterfowl.

edgar, I remember Mr. Rogers, and I remember Koko. Great to see them both together.

hamburgboy, Loving the aardvarks. Tres cute. Thanks.

firefly, Loving the table for twelve. The spoonbills are glorious. Amazing in the air. Thanks for the thud alert re the otter. The little one hasn't opened its eyes yet. Beautiful and cute.

@hamburgboy,
I wish I had just one picture of all the prairie dogs I've seen along the highway looking for all the world like they were trying to hitch a ride.

@roger,
hamburgboy, You got an itch. You scratch. Gotta admit, the prairied dog looks cute.

Roger, Trying to remember if I've ever seen a prairie dog in the flesh. Don't think so. Of course, I haven't seen a prairie either. I've been in about half the states, but I was always in cities.

Speaking of swarms, here's a swarm of jellyfish:
