Mail retriever: Letter carriers always have to watch out for dogs chasing their trucks, nipping at their heels or in the case of Molly the golden retriever, covering their faces with big wet kisses. Molly knows the sound of postal worker Lynne Church's van and always rushes to greet her on her route in Jacksonville, Fla.

@tsarstepan,
Look at the cheezy drawings in the background which, one supposes, are supposed to represent the lions' natural environment.

@JTT,
Yeah. That's really bad. Can't imagine it being that difficult to grow a few real trees for the enclosure. Ones they can climb on and rest under.

I haven't seen the video as it's blocked here at work so I'm bookmarking the page here so when I do get home I won't forget to watch it during the weekend.

Fer sure, Tsars.

Or get rid of the zoos. They're really zoos anyway.

Osso, Bogey appears to be supervising. Good to have a canine with you for such stuff. Chloe and Ryler are keepers. Makes me sigh. I know that wildlife photographers take chances. But getting run down by cows seems kinda outside the box. Thanks for the pics, kid. Osso, glad to see a postal worker who's appreciated by a canine. Also glad to see that dogs get to have fiddles played for them. They seem to like it. (Great faces.)

dj, That's a sturgeon? Who knew? Very big. I hope that Animal Planet River Monster guy doesn't get wind of this. Hey, River Monster guy, leave the fish alone.

HH, Gotta admit that the kid has more attitude than the chimp. Of course, the kid needs more attitude. In five or six years, he'll still be a little kid. In five or six years, the chimp won't be full grown but would easily be able to rip the kid's head off. (Aren't I in a joyous frame of mind.)

jc, That's one photogenic tortoise you got there. Don't you have another one? How's he doing?

tsar, Some zoos should be ashamed. The one in Jordan needs some serious updating. I like those lion eyes. Did you know that sea otters have the thickest fur of any mammal. Keeps them warm. And I suspect contributed to their endangerment.

HH, Love dem red pandas. They're wonderful even when they're not cavorting in snow, but the snow doesn't hoit. Thanks, kid.

Very busy and distracted lately, but when I don't respond individually to posts here, I feel somehow remiss. Caught up and feeling unremiss. What a relief.

@tsarstepan,
jc, Harry seems to be a bit of a ham. Nothing wrong with that. He's a cutie. Glad to hear that both tortoises are doing well and gaining weight. A sure sign they're being well cared for.

Beautiful scene, tsar. Lovely and peaceful. Thanks, kid.

Love dem sheep faces..

"Down to eight lives: In case you missed the Chronicle story, this tabby rode 85 miles from Mill Valley to Santa Cruz in the engine compartment of a van. Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter spokesman Todd Stosuy thinks the 8-month-old stowaway was just looking for a warm place to sleep when she slipped under the hood of the parked van. The shelter is searching for the owner."

@ossobuco,
Osso, Dem cats can sleep anywhere. I'm glad this one was rescued. Thanks for the thud alert. OMG, that Buster is something else. It's a good thing he was never my dog. I would have spent the whole time unconscious from thudding.

There's relaxed, and then there's RELAXED:
