@Roberta,
Thanks for the reminder ..

It's a sad situation for the friend, but the owl video plays a part.
Email from pal, edited to leave out names -

That was just precious! We have several owl fanciers in our family; I'll forward this to them.
Hope you are well; miss you....

This year has been a devastating year for my already very small family; My sisters youngest daughter lost her fight with Leukemia, and passed away on Sept 4th. L---- was only 31. My sisters son, who is the youngest of her 3 kids, just got married last Dec.; they found out a week ago that his young wife has malignant brain cancer. She will be operated on at ---- on the 2nd of Dec; and my dear sister has stage four Lymphoma, and probably will need chemo soon.
One of the owl fanciers is L----'s little 11 year old daughter E------. She is such an amazingly multi-talented child. She is artistic, sings like an angel, is a beautiful little ballerina, and very,very smart. She sang at her mothers memorial service; "No one compares to you" There wasn't a dry eye in the church; even the minister.

On the day L---- died, we noticed a dog in the yard next door to my sisters house. He turned out to be injured, probably hit by a car. The folks who live there said the dog had been there for a couple of days; they had not offered water or food to him!

The shelter picked him up, and my sisters oldest daughter M------ asked to have the shelter call us, if no one came forward to claim him.
Well, nobody did, and M------ and I went down to get him off death row.
I have the cutie at my house, we named him Yogi, and he is about a year old lab/pit mix. he is quite a handful though; trying to go slowly, since he had never been socialized; we had a trainer out a few weeks back; it's an ongoing process. Not sure that our house with so many cats is the best place for him....we'll see.. he is a good dog in so many ways, I hope it all works out.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving

(etc.)

Damn, tough stuff going on. Meantime my friend keeps on with the animal rescues she gets involved in - it's so her, such a big heart. I've known her fifty years...

Re Roberta, picturesw of Quetzalcoatl "Feathered Serpent", the pre-Columbian Mexican sky god, a snake with the feathers of the sacred bird the quetzal, present in a number of different versions in most of the pre-Columbian cultures"

Aztec, I thin, and Maya, respetively, tho the Maya one looks like a modern redrawing of the pre-Columbian one.

@MontereyJack,
Amazing and spectacular photo, High Seas. Kinda takes my breath away. Thanks mucho.

dj, Almost swooned over the bunny. Managed to keep my head from hitting the floor.

Awestruck, HH. Struck dumb--almost. What a bug! I'm bedazzled.

MJ, I actually studied the cultures related to the quetzalcoatl. Fascinating stuff, I think. It's a long way back. The bird is spectacular. That I'm sure of.

Methinks there is a conspiracy afoot to do away with me. High Seas steals my breath. dj makes me swoon. Hingehead strikes me dumb. And Monterey Jack demonstates how my brain is turning to mush.

Help!
