@High Seas,
Interesting, yes. But it upsets me. I don't think it's the most appropriate thing for this thread. I do appreciate the warning.

C'est la vie.

@Roberta,
Sorry.

It's horrible, but please recall many humans and animals walk around with embedded microchips; the bugs feel no more pain than a turtle would (we hope).

No warning necessary but thanks anyway. Fascinating story (slideshow) High Seas.

It's heart-breaking - not that I like bugs, but that we should have abused nature to such a point. I'm sorry I posted it and have already apologized to Roberta.

@Barry The Mod,
I can't click on it. Chickenshit that I am. I despise cockroaches and all similar. Well, not that they shouldn't live and be well, but not around me.

edits - despise is wrong.
But freak out.

My first apartment had a lot of cockroaches. I wasn't quite as reactive then as now, although I moved because of it... recently I read a report of some apartment in Abq where they vacuum them up by the many, repeatedly.

I lived in a tack-on to a duplex on Beverly Glen in WLA, and that was probably something about the small sink and it's lack of repair, plus some unfinished cabinet work. (hiss)

Here in cockroach city I can get disturbed with them. They unsettle me. So far this year, 3 dead and one running. This is relatively good, so much so that I worry about mentioning it. I hear it is much worse mid city.

@hingehead,
High Seas, I appreciate the apology. I could go off on one of my diatribes, but I'm gonna control myself.

Barry, Happy? Okey dokey. Lovely colorful pic. Thanks.

dj, The bunny appears to be eating a finger. But the camera doesn't always show us the truth. Tactile pic of otter. I wanna reach out and touch that wet fur.

HH, I like that jackal picture a lot. In fact I posted it on Sept. 2. I know we have lots of duplicates here. Mostly I don't remember. This time I did. No harm in seeing a terrific picture twice. (One of the advantages of age--your memory is shot to hell, and everything is new.) The caterpillar is positively bizarre, and I mean that in a good way. Is that ant picture for real? Dem guys is strong. Amazing stuff. Thanks, kid.

Thresher shark. Graceful in the water. Watch out for that tail. It swooshes it around and stuns fish:

St. Patrick’s Day 2010’s daily B, Mr. Peaches, is having surgery today “for the second time in 8 weeks to have a cancerous growth removed. The cancer is very aggressive so the surgeon is going deeper and wider this time in hopes of getting it all. The recovery will be tougher than last time.” Mr. Peaches’ owner hopes for your best wishes today!

dj, Awesome bunny. Imposing almost. Not a common characteristic in bunnies. Loving the tactile qualities of dem otter pics. Now I wanna pet an otter. Any news on how Mr. Peaches is doing? Now I gotta worry about a bunny. Sigh.

Great face, c.i. Thanks mucho.

Avena, I'm glad you like the pictures. This thread has pictures of mostly wild animals. But there are plenty of dogs, cats, and fish, too.

The more I see of and learn about chimps, the more convinced I am that they are us--more or less, give or take.
