@High Seas,
Yikes, high seas, listening. You are braver than I am. Very much braver.

@ossobuco,
What are you saying - I just confessed to being practically the most godawful coward, and you're calling me "brave"?! I know you mean well but you don't have to be quite so kind, I think I can handle Manhattan creepy crawleys - well, I think so. Still hope not to come across too many of them Smile

I'm keeping the smelling salts nearby. Which is a good thing. Osso, that corgi is a winner.

Irish, Love those pics, especially the birds on the buffalo's head.

High Seas, Rain forest animals are in a class by themselves. Insects, insects, and INSECTS. Not at all surprised that the rats are huge. I'm sure that each animal has it's own defined place in its ecosystem, but there are some I'd rather not encounter when I'm wandering around. I won't call you brave or cowardly. Just cautious.

Behold the panda cow!

http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_leeoewVdP11qzpwi0o1_500.jpg

Quote:
A rare “panda cow” — a miniature cow with panda markings — born last Friday in Larimer County, Colorado, is said to be one of only 24 in the whole world.

Farmer Chris Jessen, who breeds mini-cows as pets, says panda calves can sell for $30,000, which isn’t that much considering YOU GET TO OWN A PANDA COW.

Annuska Arkovits says: “Here is a picture of my bunny Drex, the mini rex, in my back garden in York. I think he thought he was helping, but he just kept on eating the snowman’s nose.”

Mischievous squirrel monkeys appear to be enjoying the free transport as they ride around on the back of a capybara. The monkeys’ antics were captured by photographer Sandra Astra at Hilvarenbeek Safari Park in the Netherlands.

Shot by Russian photographer Igor Torgachkin this delightful couple of marsh frogs were caught tangoing the night away at Lake Abrau, near Novorossiysk, Russia.

@Irishk,
I saw the video of that little monkey on that pig. He fell off once and that monkey went nuts. It was like he lost his momma. Animals are amazing.

I want a panda cow! I didn't know there was such a thing. I did not know there were mini cows either.

@Roberta,
Sorry again about this interval - but haven't you also wondered about IrishK's gift of the Celtic clairvoyance? This is the 3rd time I've seen her doing a discreet demo - btw, that 200 lbs South American giant rat is the one I saw while in the Orinoco. I'm not going to say any more about bugs, but here's a true story: some weeks ago Ukraine announced it wants to turn the Chernobyl radioactive catastrophe zone into a theme park. Any number of US advertising agencies contacted that government with promotional ideas; the one that caught my attention was "Just Like DisneyLand, except our Giant Mouse is Real". I'm not sure if you laugh with black humor, but I actually have an explanation for it, from the one and only book by Sigmund Freud I ever read, called "A Theory of Jokes". He wrote we laugh a lot at things we want to banish or exorcise because they're fearful to us. Not sure if that would work with giant rats and cockroaches of Latin America, but hey, it works for me for Chernobyl Park, I find it hilarious, though wouldn't go there Smile

@High Seas,
No explanation necessary, High Seas. To me that's just plain funny. The extremely large rat you're referring to is, I believe, a capybara, the largest rodent in the world.
