@Izzie,
When I first saw that angler fish I thought it was not real. I sat here absolutely amazed at the Bioluminescence video. I had no idea such a thing existed. How fascinating. Seriously though, that poor little male angler. It's almost like he becomes a captive of the female but I guess they both get what they want. Thank you for posting these. I loved them.

Izzie, Thanks for the great pics and videos. One of the lessons loined: It ain't easy being a guy. And what do I say to that? Tough noogies.

Female praying mantis eating mate. (I saw a film about these bugs. Sometimes they start mating, the female kills the male, but they keep on mating. Neat trick.)

@Izzie,
Izzie, I think we cross-posted. While you were posting the gorgeous big cat, I was posting my reply to all your contributions. The new cat is a major beauty. Thanks kid.

Embarrassed
NEAT TRICK?! If I was a praying mantis, I'd join a monastery or a seminary and swear a vow of chastity.

Wonderful photos, all.

Here's a view of one of the canals back in venice, ca - the canals have been spiffed up since re walkways and side walls, but I bet the egrets still visit. The housing in the canal area has gone through the roof, price wise, with much replacement of small old bungalows with some mcmansions, and some architectural efforts... change in ambiance, for sure. This is the area a large goose once confronted me, to much laughter my part.

This picture of a man standing in front of a smiling hippo has become an internet sensation. Three-tonne beast was pictured in its tank behind IT consultant Jay Parker. As his wife took a photograph on the couple's trip to San Diego Zoo, Otis the hippo decided to join in too. The result has left Jay and his wife Lauren baffled as their holiday snap - nicknamed HappyPotamus - has taken cyberspace by storm, popping up on blogs and chatrooms all over the world - and now on the Telegraph site.
