Miss Roberta, I just looked up the Okapi. They are most closely related to a giraffe. I would have thought a zebra. One thing for sure, they have a long tongue!

There's so much going on here, I can hardly keep up. Like that caterpillar tush. Momma and baby orangs. Beautiful ponies. Sleeping bunnies. I'm overwhelmed. Thank you all.

Giraffes have very long tongues, Arella Mae. They use them for grabbing leaves at the tops of trees.

@Roberta,
Wow at that giraffe's tongue! LOL! That reminds me, I saw a photo of an elephant the other day. He was standing straight up on his hind legs, trying to get something at the top of a tree. The caption indicated he's the only elephant that has learned how to do this. I'll try to find and post it today. It's really something to see.

An elephant stretches up to reach some tasty pods from the branches of a tall tree. It is thought this elephant, a 40-year-old male, is the only one of his herd who has learned how to do this. The rare sight was caught on camera by photographer Etienne Oosthuizen, who manages the Old Mondoro Bush camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

@Irishk,
Oh I've seen that pic! Did you know elephants could stand like that irishk? I had no idea and never in a million years would have believed it had I not seen this picture.

This shot was taken at Voe Agricultural Show, Shetland Isles. A very handsome specimen, but it was completely nonplussed about the prospects of winning a trophy!

@Barry The Mod,
That's an amazing shot between moose and pooch Barry. Perhaps they can have a family BBQ later on this winter season.
