I so agree tartespan. It looks like a "jeweled" little statue. So beautiful.

I was hoping y'all could help me out. Yesterday, my co-worker told me to come outside because she wanted to show me this frog. o..................k, so I went and then I came back in and got my camera. I looked up frogs in Louisiana but could not find this little guy. In the folds of his back legs between his leg and body he has a yellow-orange color that I couldn't get a picture of. You can just barely see the color in this photo but when he spread his legs out (and I missed the pic) the orange/yellow was rather vivid. I have never seen a frog like this. Does anyone have any clue?

More than likely he's just some common old frog that I've never seen is all. Laughing

The slow loris’ oversized eyes and clingy nature give it a paltry charm. But you won’t want to give a slow loris a hug, this primate is one of the few poisonous mammals on Earth. It secretes the toxin on its inner elbow to either slather on its young for protection or store in its mouth for a venomous bite. The poison isn’t deadly to humans, but causes painful swelling.

I am not sure I’d want to wake up in the middle of the night with those eyes staring at me but he is kind of cute.

I had no idea that a duck-billed platypus was such a beautiful creature. I have such a wonderful job. We aren't very busy today and they let us peruse the net, read a book, etc.

Seems to be a North American Bullfrog in disguise (covered with mud).

Colors and dots depend on location and environment.

Bellies of males vary from beige to bright yellow.

@Francis,
There was not a speck of mud on the frog. His color was actually a bit lighter than the picture shows but he was in the shade. I have never seen a frog around here with his coloring, especially the orange/yellow in the fold of his what I guess would be his thigh. I am sure he is just a regular frog for Louisiana that I had never seen before.

I didn't know platypusses ( guess that's how you do it plural?) had their own song! Way cool.

Here is a recent photo of my darling little mule, JJ. I am a proud momma so I wanted to show him off some.

@tsarstepan,
I think that music should go with the dolphin bubbles video my cousin sent me.
Hmmm, wonder if I tossed that.
Nope, here it is. Hard for me to hear, couldn't ratchet up the volume, but interesting..

@ossobuco,
I was thinking he looks like he has a mohawk. I keep teasing him telling him I'm going to braid his mane and put beads in it.

I love the video! Thanx

@Arella Mae,
I thought of Mohawk, but was trying to come up with another word, as in the photo, it looks more like a Mow-Tuft... the very top part, that is..

@Arella Mae,
That's a mighty cute mule to be proud about!! I'd share his photo with everyone with reckless abandon if he was my companion mule!!

Oh, I do! JJ is very famous around here. People stop to watch him play all the time. He has his face on canvas bags in Europe and America and on some greeting cards. He's such a ham! Thank you so much for the compliment.

@ossobuco,
[o]ossobuco[/b]! That is too cool to comprehend!

Maybe Douglas Adams was right. Maybe dolphins are a much smarter species then we humans care to give them credit.

The thing I love so much about dolphins is they are always smiling. How wonderful is that!

@tsarstepan,
I had a university extension italian class friend who was also a manatee expert of some sort (wrote a book on them, if I remember).

I'm essentially manatee ignorant, but here's a link - not to her, just a link I found on google -

with a photo -

@Arella Mae,
Hi Arella,

Yes, I can help. That is a Hyla Versicolor (Grey Tree Frog)

Even though they are called "Grey" tree frogs, they are often green. And the yellow/orange color under the legs gives them away.
