If that thing's common, I'm never going in the ocean again!!!

Not to worry, bunny. Those fish are common only way way deep. You won't encounter one unless you're in some kinda wabbit submarine.

@edgarblythe,
Edgar, This hasn't been posted, at least not here. Thanks for adding it. That rodent is bigger than a German shepherd! Do you know what the little black thing is next to it? Is that a guinea pig. I looked online to see if cabybara babies are darker than the parents. Nope. The same tawny color.

Speaking of rodents, here are a couple of babies--fieldmice I think Too cute to resist:

Two orphaned baby flying foxes being cared for by Sandra Penman of Holmesville, Lake Macquarie, Australia, 8 February. The Australian government has come under fire for its policies towards the culling of fruit bats. According to one ecologist, fruit bats are dying slow, cruel deaths because of culling methods approved by the state government. University of Sydney ecologist Dr Kerryn Parry-Jones has studied the animals for more than 20 years. And she believes the government is breaking animal cruelty laws by allowing farmers to shoot the bats. She cited a study showing up to a third of all shot bats were still alive more than eight hours later. The problem has seen increasing numbers of baby fruit bats being discovered orphaned after their parents have been killed

Ah, olga. Love dem flying foxes. Sorry to hear they're having a bad time.

Hey, Letty. They're not missing. They're right there. I think the larger cat is a new breed of domestic feline called a Serengetti cat. Not sure. All I know about the smaller cat is that it's smaller and polka dotted.

tsar, Did the toad get a tryout? It probably wouldn't do well as a hitter or fielder. But it could probably serve as a pinch hopper.

Francis, Wonderful picture--again. Where do you find them? Love the two faces. The fascinated baby and the fascinated cat. Each fascinated for very different reasons.

Same as other people: on the internet.

Maybe with different keywords...

@Roberta,
It turns out the toad is the homeplate umpire.

How is the gas mileage for that Highland bovine? I wonder if she'd make a good commuter vehicle here in the city. Of course when it's raining I can take it onto the R train to work.

@tsarstepan,
Shoulda known an umpire would be cold-blooded.

Gas mileage? The bovine isn't too bad on gas intake. Can't be sure of the outgo though. Don't you have hay in Queens? Do you live in Queens? I don't know much about Queens. Is there hay? Grass. I think bovines are big on greens. As for transportation. If you want a bovine to ride, why not pick one that can see where it's going?

So, I saw this photo in the Chronicle's Day in Pictures feature -

"Boiiiiing! A powder hound named Wolfgang bounds like a deer through new-fallen snow in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

and decided to look up powder hounds... not knowing if they mean any dog that likes snow.

Seems so... very cute!

@ossobuco,
Are you sure that's not a kid in a black bear suit? Anyway, it looks like it's having a blast of a time in the snow! Smile

@ossobuco,
I love the powder hounds as well, and the kingfisher.

Anyone done the first word in the dictionary yet? They're good for controling ants in the pants and in the pantry.
