This albino alligator is at the new science museum in golden gate park in san francisco. Our friends invited us yesterday.

Thanks, c.i. Albinos rarely survive in the wild. I saw an albino alligator in the Bronx Zoo many years ago.

I started this thread back in January 2007. It was something I always wanted to do, and I finally figured out how to post photographs.

This thread is approaching 100,000 views. I don't usually pay attention to such things, but I'm paying attention on this thread.

Whoda thunk?

This thread has proved to be a great escape for me. I've enjoyed looking for and finding photos of all manner of creatures. And I've enjoyed seeing and learning about what everybody else posts.

I'm gonna be posting pics of some of my very favorite animals. I hope you all do the same.

A cheetah, running (what a surprise):

Wonderful pics, Iz.

Yes, swans can be cranky. Somewhere in a carton in my closet is a picture of me being chased around a park in Oslo by a swan. Hey, boid. I was just trying to be nice.

Secretariat winning the Belmont Stakes. Yes, there are other horses running. Be patient.

@Roberta,
Secretariat.. weeps.. well, weeps mostly happily.

I had nabbed a good photo once of the older Secretariat, near white - I presume I've lost it re my files. Strikingly fabulous photo.

osso, I weep too. A feeling of overwhelming emotion. I have the triple crown on tape. Pulled it out and watched it after I posted that picture. Cried again. Said wow at the same time. Secretariat was not only speedy, but he was also gorgeous. I looked but couldn't find a picture that did him justice.

Msolga, Thanks for the kind words. Also thanks for the penguin pic.

Here's one of my favorite marine animals--warm blooded. They give birth to live young. The great white shark:

These are the fastest animals on the planet. In full swoop, they can reach 200 miles per hour.

@Roberta,
Here's another Secretariat in motion pic. I don't have that pic of him as an older horse, dammit. I can't describe the photo, just remember it as fabulously fabulous - I'm guessing it involved some movement, or sense of movement. I'll keep looking, as I know it's out there somewhere, if not on google images, at least not in the immediate bunch of pages.
