I think St Patrick emigrated to New Zealand, we have no snakes.

But going back a post or two, here is a local mallard duck:

Tigershark, No snakes! Didn't know that. Love the mallard. That picture is particularly wonderful--full of detail and great color.

Springboks, now those are favorites..

from the LATimes photos of the day,

"A Grevy's Zebra foal stands alongside its mother at Woburn Safari Park, in Bedforshire, England. The Grevy's Zebra, the largest of all the wild horses, has narrower stripes than other zebras and has large, round ears. The stripes are said to confuse chasing predators, as the stripes appear to merge when zebras are in herds and it is hard to single out an individual."

Today, for the first time in my life I saw a Cedar Waxwing in the wild. There were two of them in a wild cherry tree behind my office (they were eating the berries just like the nature books say they should). Cedar Waxwings are supposed to be common in this area, but I've never seen one before now.

rosborne, You're right. It looks like a three-legged avian. I happen to be of the opinion that the cedar waxwing is one exquisite boid. I envy your having seen one in the flesh.

Izzie, Thanks for the boid and the cute little frog.
