Nice photo's. Here's an interesting tidbit about compound eyes... Compound eyes don't have pupils in them, but because of the way the individual elements of the eye are constructed, there always appears to be a black area in the eye, and it is always directly where you are looking. This gives the appearance of the eyes following you (as many people notice in Preying Mantis eyes), but it is an illusion amplified by our mammalian tendency to expect pupils in eyes.
Those photo's are probably accurate, but the black areas are not really pupils.
