Inside City Hall. The best man was Ian's freind Tommy (left) and the other witness was Andrea's brother (I don't know his name Embarrassed ) (far right).

That one's kind of dark.

Thanks, Walter. They look so happy.

The rice gauntlet. (Not encouraged here, but that's another story.)

How nice is that! I love her necklace, just beautiful. They're both glowing
and very sure of their step into married life.

It's probably shocking to Americans, but in Europe, weddings don't
have all the hoopla, maid of honors etc. etc.

You don't throw rice? Why is it discouraged?

Brilliant!

I love seeing couples blending old and their-own traditions.

Congrats to all the Swimpy-clan.

The birds eat it, swell up and die. I don't know if it's true, though.

Thank you so much, Miss Betheh.

Naw, that's an old wife's tale, Swimpy.

Quote:
Lots of birds eat uncooked rice in the wild. Bobolinks, sometimes called rice birds, are a good example. While rice is okay for birds, many wedding parties now throw bird seed instead.

That picture is so lovely, it really captures their mood so well - definitely
a Kodak moment!

ah, Swimp, they are both beautiful, honey.

Some people throw birdseed now. No hoopla at my wedding. It was supposed to be in the minister's study with just my sister and Bud's musician friend in attendance. Somehow the word got around that bachelor Bud was getting married and the entire church filled up with the jazz boys. We played a gig that night. Razz

Most of the weddings in my family are held at my ancestral home.

Most weddings around here - there's no throwing of anything - no one wants to pay for the clean-up.

There was a brief binge of bubbles - but that led to stains on silk.

~~~
The walk to the wedding is one of my favourite traditions. It's really lovely for everyone involved. You really feel like something's happening when you all arrive at the hall/church/venue.
