YOU sir, are just SO wrong.

Just look at my avatar. Do you see who's in it?

That's not RR my friend, it is the REAL Shaft, Sam Jackson.

I'm glad we have that cleared up.

parados is correct. RR is Shaft - the one and only, can't be duplicated 70's original.

Samuel L. Jackson did his interpretation of the character Shaft.
Cool

Naw, Samuel Jackson is the stick-up artist in Coming to America.

The guy in Pulp Fiction is Jules Winnfield.

And Richard Roundtree is absolutely, positively, Shaft. Go ask Isaac Hayes if you don't believe me.

Chai,

Your avatar looks like a movie poster to me...

A movie poster with Sam Jackson playing as if he is Shaft.

All of you guys are so wrong!!!

Sam Jackson's character in Shaft was named after his uncle, the original John Shaft. Remember, Richard Roundtree showed up, as his uncle, in the beginning of Sam's movie.

I didn't vote, under the circumstances, but since you insist, Roundtree was very hot in 1971. He rocked that leather like no one before him and with Isaac Hayes' soundtrack in the background, well, there's simply no comparison in my book.

Richard Roundtree is John Shaft, now and forever. Sam Jackson trying to be macho/smooth, saying **** like "It's my duty to please the booty", and flexing in the face of 260-pound guys was a joke.

memories...like the corners of my mind...

Shaft was my first R-rated movie. And my first real date (without a parent around). I'm trying to remember what that must have been like, watching those love scenes with my very first boyfriend, on our first date. I was 15. Very Happy

Richard Roundtree is "Shaft" for most people. I saw him in two of the three "Shaft" movies from the seventies. Did they ever ask Samuel Jackson to play "Shaft" more than once?????
