Hello. I've recently downloaded Internet Explorer's latest offering. Ever since I've done that, I still get pop-up windows (yes, the setting is set to block pop-ups). Another thing I've noticed is that when I look at the Processes tab under Task Manager, explorer.exe uses upwards of 90% almost constantly. I've been told I need to uninstall IE7 and reinstall it. Is that what I should do? If not, what else can I try. My operating system is Windows XP Media.

explorer.exe, a core component of Windows, is separate from Internet Explorer (which is iexplore.exe). If Explorer is soaking up resources as you report, you've got something else going on there ... which prolly needs to be dealt with before you do much else.

Anyhow, it would be a good idea to uninstall IE7, reboot, and download/reinstall it fresh - setting all options and configurations to "Default" as a starting point, and making certain your Windows is fully updated and both that IE7's popup blocker is on and that you have a firewall - even if only Windows Firewall - in place and properly configured. You also should have a current, fully updated, and properly configured antivirus in place, along with anti-spyware protection. Its a jungle out there.

An option you might wish to consider would be a 3rd Party browser, such as Firefox or Opera
