And if I were wise I'd know who
said that (besides my mother who loved it).
That would make
sense, Craven, since my mother loved Abraham Lincoln, too. If I weren't so laze, I'd look it up on line (can't find my
Bartlett's though I just looked).
Good to see you -- you have done a marvelous job with this site. It's really
great!!! Thank you, very, very much.
Sounded awful Mark
Twainish, and a quick Google search seems to support that. Though I've gotten in trouble that way before -- sometimes a lot
of people are wrong and they all show up on a Google search.
I've seen it
attributed to Abe, but am no expert with names. I'm not gonna try to get a definitive answer! I'm too lazy. But it DOES
sound Twainish!
I'm still embarassed about some stuff on this site, what's already good isn't my doing and what I
did needs improving.
When we get out own domain things should look up.
'What difference does it make how much you have? What you do not have
amounts to much more.'
~ Seneca
(I have that quote somewhere in my mess of stuff....I'll
find it.)
Okay, now I did a
google search and found several places attributing my quote to Abe (but one says he was paraphrasing from the Bible????)
I also remeber
Samuel Clemmens' name being attached to that one. I really have no clue now.
I found Bartlett's
but it's not in there, nor is it in my Elbard Hubbard's Scrapbook so I give up.

A twain of Twain ...
It is the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them.
It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.
From mr Mellow,
How true indeed, You know if you were to take an I.Q test which I believe to be bias on every one I have ever seen the question pops up where it states a Man that has Wisdom is an Man that_________
and even though on some it is worded different on all tests the answer is the man that admits he knows nothing.
Woody Allen once quoted forgive me I am a poor student, for I went to school with Psycholigicaly Disturbed Teachers.
Let us not forget Confusion Now Hath Created this Masterpiece, one of my fav's
Bandylu! Your mother's quote is a variation on Twain:
"Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." - Mark Twain
The first one is my life moto, but I also like the other two (and do hope that I didn't miss the chategory)
"It is only with the heart one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye"
