I love that clip sooooo much. I'd like it in place of one of those stencil thingies people do in rooms, backlit of course.

Back in the dark ages, my parents had (blushes) a transparency of me in an organdy dress, the "positive" - I think not a negative, the filmic bit in front of a pushbutton light.

Alas I threw it all away as an adult, as in Yaaaack.

But, take that technology, and lay it out in a strip at the ceiling of a room, and have your dog flick run on it...

I've been around, y'know, and I've seen stencils up the kazoo. Rather see Guiness running.

Oh, but never mind. I don't want to make him a commodity.

Yrs truly.

Ah, saw it again, I tear from happiness.

Forget any foopoo about strips of dogs running around the ceiling. I didn't mean it.

Found some other info:

1. Cheetah: 70 Mph
2. Pronghorn Antelope: 61 Mph
3. Wildebeest: 50 Mph
4. Lion: 50 Mph
5. Thomson's Gazelle: 50 Mph

The cheetah and the pronghorn antelope are the world's fastest land animals, but each achieves its success in locomotion because of very different biomechanics. The cheetah is a sprinter, built for speed with a flexible body and a large stride. By contrast, the pronghorn's body is built for endurance and long distances; it has evolved an aerobic ability that enables it to utilize oxygen at a very high rate. Both the cheetah and the pronghorn have been clocked at speeds higher than 60 mph.
In a foot race the cheetah or hunting leopard wins. It has been timed at
70 miles an hour during short bursts of speed in pursuit of gazelles and
antelopes. It can overtake and pull down the blackbuck of India which
is reputed to reach 65 mph. The pronghorn antelope of western United
States has maintained 60 mph for two miles and 36 mph for 27 miles.
The lion can charge at 50 mph over short distances. Even the largest of
all land animals, the African elephant, with its stiff-legged trot could
beat our best track stars in the dashes, while the rhinoceros can gallop
neck and neck with a good horse for two miles.

Several strains of dogs have been bred for extreme speed. The fastest of
all seems to be the saluki of Arabia, or the related Afghan hound, which
can step out at 43 mph and overtake the fastest Arabian horse.
Greyhounds and whippets sometimes reach 35 or 40 mph in dog races.

Maybe I should've typed "UK", instead of "World"?

I shall now google furiously until I fall in an exhausted heap.

<AHEM>

"My bad", as you funny sounding people would say.

Or at least "Their bad", as it was this site that gave me such false information.

I believe what they were trying to say, was that the Greyhound has the second fastest acceleration from a standing start, without the aid of starting blocks or spiked running shoes.
They can get up to top speed within three strides! Bloody hell! It takes me all day, sometimes.

........"Greyhounds are the second fastest land animal! They achieve their incredible speed (up to 45 m.p.h.) in three strides........"

Yeah, bunny. A cheetah.

L.E. I gotta tell ya that I never heard the expression "my bad" or "their bad."

So we're talking about acceleration. Okey dokey. Not gonna argue. I was proud to have looked up and found something on gioogle and then managed to get it here relatively unscathed. Not gonna press my luck.

Thanks, again, for all your help. I'm as happy as a clam (whatever the hell that means) with my new avatar.

Did the person ever show up at court?

Folks, this topic is for avatar tutorials.

I'm more than happy to split out the chat and put it into General. Thanks.

Thanks, Jes. And sorry to be messing up the help forum.

Two problems. First, the thread title. No pumas here. Not that they aren't fine and wonderful animals, mind you. And I do like the alliteration. The avatar and much of the discussion (aside from the pies) was about cheetahs.

Second, the thread is listed twice in the general forum, once with the stuff that's connected to this thread, and once with the first question I had about posting an avatar.

Darn tootin'. I'm jealous (or is it envious?) sometimes.
