For the last two years when my avg has finished scanning it says "objects scanned 56000" (give or take a few hundred)

but for the past three days it says objects scanned 75000

what are the further 20000 objects?

Did you recently install any new programs or program updates?

Are you suspecting a virus on your computer? One may be generating files on your hard drive.

Have you cleared temp files and cookies lately?

Could be any or all of those.

kev- Consider yourself lucky. I think that I am up to about 400,000. It all started when I got my digital camera, and started downloading pictures to my hard drive. It takes me about 40 minutes to virus scan my computer.

My brother, who downloads everything and anything that is not tied down, tells me that it takes him 3 hours to virus scan his computer. I don't even want to ask his how many files he has on his machine! Rolling Eyes

Last week AVG announced that the current system would be replaced by a new system which I downloaded, but why is it scanning 20000 more objects and what are they?

Phoenix, it takes 35 mins on my computer to get through 56000 Confused
