Not being able to burn a CD copy since SP2 upgrade--HELP

Could somebody help me over a long, drawn out issue with XP SP2 and burning CD's? I've got two computers, both had factory installed Roxio software and Windows Media and when XP SP2 installed, neither would work to burn a CD at all.

I had searched for an answer before, long ago, but gave up. Nobody seemed to know how to fix this outside of purchasing more software, expensive software.

I even removed the Roxio as one party advised, that didn't help.

Does anyone have an answer to this?

Many thanks in advance for any feedback! Smile

What version is your Roxio software? EZ CD Creator older than Version 6.* are not supported under Win XP SP2.

If yours is a not an older version, perhaps you'll find help here: Roxio Support: General disc burning issues

It told me to delete it, I did, and media player still won't. The Roxi quit originally which was what I was using. I wish I could tell you the version of Roxio it was, but it came with the computer (Gateway) I bought it in 2002.

I found through some research that they were incompatible with SP2 and even after the deletion of Roxio, Media Player version 10 refused. I've tossed at least a dozen CD-Rs and CD-RW's into the trash from both computers, mine and my daughter's computer. Both quit once the SP2 went into effect.

I've tried everything I could think of, read on some sites that it's not fixable, but I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking.

I'm finally trying again for answers, hoping I'll find some here.

thank you so much!
