Encounter
Above the early morning fog
I hear a single songbird peep,
though, but for me she'd be unheard,
-the mountain coves are still asleep,
Then, through a rhododendron bush
a tawny forest beauty glides,
and seeming not to move one leaf
to taste the dewy grass she spies
She turns, and bends her slender neck,
then stops. -I made a tiny sound-
her eyes and twitching ears she lifts,
our gazes meet and my heart pounds,
her glance is cooler than the mist,
and though the stranger stands so near,
She waits, and lets me stare and stare,
(She seems to be devoid of fear)
and like a runway manequin
she waits to let me have my fill,
then turns, walks through a leafy screen,
and as before, the woods are still.

Hi, old friend. The poem's a masterpiece.
Hi Phoenix, ENDYMION, Edgar,
Nice to see you all!
I'm now perched on a mountain in the Blue Ridge and getting accustomed to rural life. Sometimes I think God made this place too beautiful! * (apologies to ESVM)
and...I got here in time to help elect Jim Webb to the U.S. Senate.
Hope you are all well and happy!
see you on the threads.

* a little cold at the moment though... 14 degrees farenheit @ 8:30pm with windspeed of 25mph!
Jjorge!! Jjurray~! Jjugs around!@!!!!
S'true, that's a masterpiece. I'm in awe, as usual.
(... let me have my fill) brought tears to my eyes.
Congrats on Jim Webb. <basking>
Piffka, Piffka, Piffka!
'Dichosos los ojos que la ven'.*
* happy are the eyes that 'see' her
<grinning>
Oooh, I love that. Happy are these eyes that get to read your poems and see your photos. Where are the inflicta-pic emails I've been waiting for?
Has it turned out to be cooler in the wilds of Virginny than you expected?
Hi Pif
