I recently gave a computer to a close friend and the system on it is windows xp pro! When you install a new copy of Windows Xp you have to register it in you're name and the friend i gave it to wants to change it into her name. I know how to change the name on everything else on the computer and she has but when you go into System properties it says "registered To:" and she wants to change it to her name! Does anyone know how to do this with the exception of rerunning windows xp pro? My email is [email protected] if anyone would care to help me? Thank you

Open RegEdit: Start>Run> type, without the quotes, "REGEDIT", click "OK" or hit [ENTER], when the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion,

in the right-hand panel, you'll see RegisteredOrganization and RegisteredOwner values, which will be in text string form. To alter either or both values, double-click the one you want to change, which will open its Edit String dialogbox, type in the new information as you wish it to appear, and click OK". Repeat for the other entry if appropriate, then close RegEdit and reboot.

Note: This will change the default registered owner info. Any personal folders, program registrations, dial-up connections, and/or logons
created with the previous name will stay in effect until also changed or deleted, as appropriate, and new settings will have to be made for the new registered owner.
