Okay - i mentioned this on another thread, but the real home run was saving my config.php file - because what i did was back up everything (ala cpanel), then saved config.php someplace safe, crossed my fingers and toes, disabled the board from the board control panel, renamed phpbb2 to forums and then overwrote everything, copied back config.php, and then ran the update - and worked like a champ - took about 5 minutes (or less?) to upload the files, and the install with the config file took literally under 1 minute - then i had to delete those 2 subdirectories and i was good - i lost my old portal, and somethings became defunct, but in all, a great experience - thanks again!
The realy key: BACK UP config.php - WHAT A LIFESAVER!
Actually backing up your config.php file just made it a tiny bit easier. You could have created a config file through a fresh install in 30 seconds. I personally just make that file myself (takes about 10 seconds).
Have you gotten fetch all sorted out?
trust me, config would have taken longer - have to remember passwords, the whacky names of my mysql database....feh.
fetch? i have it kinda running, but not well
should i start a new thread?
i know you like threads like i like <insert something to get me arrested here> so i'll start a new one
