Hey I'm looking for a new mother board and processor. Does anyone have any advice? I'm not rich, can't afford a whole heep, but I will be installing it myself (I do know enough to do that.) Does anybody have any opinions on what I should be installing? I'm thinking AMD 64. I found a deal which was: "Mach Speed Viper MK8-939A Via Socket 939 ATX Motherboard" and an "AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.40GHz OEM Processor" for $100. I am willing to go probably up to $300 dollars but I can't afford more than that. What's anybody think?
Thanks.
If you are only doing motherboard and processor you better check your memory and video to make sure they will work on the new board.
Got that.
Yeah, Compatability is no issue.
What do you think about the products?
PS
I said compatability is no issue because I'm going to upgrade the Memory and Video Card. But for a while I was going to see if I could hold on to my old stuff. Just to be cheap durring the upgrade...If I have a mother board that takes DDR ram and I can't use the old non-DDR ram can I? Thanks for the help.
I have an ASUS motherboard and an Athlon FX-55 chipset. I've been very happy with it, but it does tend to run hot. It was the fastest and the best when I bought it, but if I were shopping today I'd look for dual core processing.
But that's me.
Thanks for the Opinion.
Tanks for the Opinion. That's exactly what I"m looking for. Just wanted to see what people thought.
Hey!
Where's all the opinions?!
