I am using windows 98 and have a dial up connection. In the past when I made a connection an icon appeared in the systems tray and was the simplest way to disconnect when I was through. The icon has stopped appearing even though the connection is made. Any ideas as to how to get the icon back.
Try this:...
It's been a while since I've used Windows 98 but go to your Control Panel and then Network Connections...Find your internet connection, right click on it, and choose properties...In properties there should be a check box that says something about showing the icon in the system tray. If that's aready checked this is the more obvious solution but look at your system tray (the area where it used to appear) and see if there a little arrow button click on that and see if it pops open revealing that the button has been hidden. Sorry, but that's all I can remember from Windows 98 for that problem.
Thanks for the try, IVIr. I couldn't find a properties box from the networking icon or the internet properties icons on my control panel. I'll keep playing around and maybe I'll stumble into something.
