I guess they thought he had management skills or maybe being an accountant they figured he could watch the bottom line.
I'd say they were wrong on both counts.

Companies do not give fair weight to experience and education.
They should consider both equally.

sorry about that uncle. bosses suck sometimes. my last one was a real a$$hole!

I was a boss once and I was nice as long as the employees did their work.
I didn't care how many breaks they took, or if they had personal phone calls as long as the work got done as expected and it didn't interfer with the customers. I also never expected out of them work that I could not do myself.
They could not type faster than the computer program like I could, but that was okay if they had to wait for the screen to come up. You know when you are at a computer and you just type in #'s and the screens haven't come up yet because you are typing faster than the computer can bring them up. That is what I mean.

This is actually funny that you bring this stuff up. I have multiple degrees, but that doesn't mean I am smarter than others. It means I went to classes, passed tests and hopefully learned from it. It also means I got the opportunity to be rounded in a sense. A little exposed to different subjects
(core classes). Experience counts just as much in my book, but then again I didn't write the book. Very Happy

The OMG did not go away, I just am not sure how to handle it. (frustrated emoticon).

Are you guys still smoking that the contest is over?

I just checked the FAA site it looks like Denver is still closed and several airports have ground stops, including Chicago, Houston, SFO and JFK.

Thanks, Unkie! Southwest agent told me that Denver wouldn't open until tomorrow sometime, so I'm probably out of luck until it does open. There's lots of stranded people in SLC because of it. At least I have a home to go to! Count my blessings on that one!

Sorry you're having a crappy day! Mad

I would have asked him nicely how he suggested you do that? Put it right back on him. If you expect something from someone then you have to tell them how to do it. I am not sticking up for him. I would have just put it back on him to give you the answer since that is what he expected from you.

whatcha po'ed about?

I vented earlier this morning, but long story, short. I caught hell from our customer because his building went way over the original budget. I explained to him that it was because of all the changes that he made that caused the price to go up. Then my boss sided with the customer and went up one side of me and down the other. It didn't matter that the project had been going for over a year and I just inherited it three months ago.
And the day went downhill from there.

Did your boss do this in front of the customer?

He didn't have the answer then. That is what appears to me.

Just because you own it doesn't mean you can do the work. I know people who own businesses, but never did the work. They don't know how. I call that not very smart. If you don't know how, then that is how you can be taken advantage of from others that do know. The owner is paying people on things he/she can't do him/her self.
Not very bright in my book. Just my opinion though.
