Welcome back TTH, it's good to see you.

Thanks
Can I ask you a question? No fighting I promise.

Sure, I'll answer it if I can.

Never mind it was leo. Leo listed the answers they had and I was just curious about #29. What other coordinates can you use (besides long. & lat.) when you are talking about the planet? It just confused me, but then again I get confused easily.
Seriously though, I don't understand. I like to learn so what is it I am missing?

TTH, I think that all coordinates are given in latitudes and longitudes (N,S,E and W) there are various ways to write them down the most common being in degrees, minutes and seconds. 110D 42M 16S
For GPS coordinates this would be 110D 42.27M
and for decimal degrees it is 110.70D. I hope this answers your question. If anyone can add to this, or correct it, please jump in.

That is what I thought. The only other type I could think of is in quadrants
but wouldn't apply in the question. Degrees do you mean "°". Skuncle do you have a PC? If so, then you type in Alt + 0176 to get a degree sign. I didn't know how to do this. A veteran member showed me. The are very nice and helpful (most anyway because I don't know all of them). They are smart too. A lot are willing to help.

Does anyone think they will become a finalist in this contest?

I'd like to think our team would be among the finalists, but realistically I doubt it. It was a lot of fun, hard work and a helluva learning experience. Oh yeah, I met a bunch of nice folks along the way, which really enhanced the experienced.

Yes, when I said Degrees I meant °. Thanks, I never knew you could do that and I've been using excel for ages.

I don't mean your team will not be a finalist. I meant I can't agree with your first sentence in reference to my team. Sorry Embarrassed Embarrassed

Thanks, Ox has offered too. I'm still trying to work it out on my own, I hate to think that I can't figure it out on my own. I'll try a couple of more things before I admit defeat. But please keep the offer open I'll probably end up needing assistance.

No one can know everything. There is nothing wrong in asking for help.
I help when I can. I ask when I need to. A lot of people won't ask because they think it shows they are dumb or stupid. I don't think this way.
I would rather ask and learn and let them think I am stupid.

I am not saying you are stupid or dumb.

I hope this makes sense. Sometimes it is so hard to get one's meaning across in writing.

I know exactly what you mean. I like to try to work through things myself, but when I keep running into a wall I have no problem at all in asking for help.

I am the same way. I try to figure it out myself, but if I can't I ask. That is how I learn. The best way is to do it yourself. That isn't always possible though. After you look and search and still cannot find it that is when I ask.

Since I am alone right now I can talk to myself. I actually left this box and meandered around this site. I think there are a lot of things to learn on this site. I think it is very useful and definitely has interesting people on it. There are parts of the site that are confusing to new people (like myself). I won't list them all since I am not done trying to learn it on my own. I have even considered starting a new thread. I don't know yet where to put it or if anyone is interested. I don't want to say yet what it is, but it has to do with this site (positive, not negative).
