I've been looking for a quote, which I'm fairly certain is from Harry Truman. Can't remember where I originally came across it nor can I track it down online.
The general gist: Truman was asked, regarding his political career, what he was most proud of, and his answer was the efforts at nation-building in Japan and Germany following WWII. He said something to the effect, 'we completely crushed them and then built them back up again.'
Anyone heard that before? Know where I can track it down?
Thanks.
Hi, and welcome to Able2know.
I've been looking for an hour and can't find it.
Any more clues?
I'm staying tuned to see if someone else comes up with it.
I'm afraid that's all I have to work with.
Thanks for trying, though.
I can't find any such quote.
Bush made that claim about Truman during his speech on the occasion of the 60th anniversay of V-J day. Is that where you got this?
You can dig around on your own
at the Truman Library.
