Before charcoal
there was poster paint
oil paints and gasoline
by the bucketful

the love of an artist
in grimy jeans and muscle shirts
he's buying the 6 dollar notebooks
with pretty designs
to store our bank statements in

without ambiguity
we have nothing
let me swirl like a princess
behind the marching orders of
her pots and practicality

I danced for christmas
and modeled starchy old patterns
climbed the knolls of the plains
believing i was conquering the swiss alps

the Great Explorer!
With glittered dresses and bloodied knees
no incongruity there, you laughed
nothing strange about cha.

There can't be anything worse
than the death of a working class artist

Scratching together a family
outta two by fours and leftover bibles
somehow, ressurecting
the truth of nothing.

I like it very much, flushd. Very much indeed.

(just one little thing ~ I don't understand the "cha" at the end of the 5th verse ~ maybe it's just me)

Tico, I read this as "aboutcha" or "about you". Hopefully flushd will clear it up. I liked it too.

Ah, thanks. The 'cha' was the sound of the voice of the person I was thinking of. An accent that slurs 'you' as 'cha'.

It hasn't been edited or looked over, just off the top of my head. Mainly trying to get more of my stuff on a screen where it is viewable, analyze and fret later. Smile I'm very bad for hiding notebooks full of poems and never doing a thing with them.

thanks for the comments.

I liked it even more on the second reading.

Keep 'em coming, flushd.
