How to do when even the JavaScript is enabled on Internet Explorer and a JavaScript applet doesn´t run on Windows 2000 by clicking on a link in order to load or to jump to other pages or windows. My Internet Explorer is version 6.0.

What happens when you try " ... clicking on a link in order to load or to jump to other pages or windows"?

Have you tried to duplicate the problem with another browser, such as Firefox? If so, what happens?

What is your Win2k installation's Service Pack and update status?

What is your IE6 installation's update status?

What version of Javascript Runtime do you have installed?

Have you uninstalled the Microsoft Virtual Runtime Engine?

If you are using a firewall (and you should be), have you checked its log and its application permissions to see if the problem might be there?

You may find This Fix to be of help - but first be certain all of your updates, including Windows Service Packs, Windows Security Updates, IE Browser Updates, and Java are current, and that there is no firewall issue.

What happens when you try " ... clicking on a link in order to load or to jump to other pages or windows"? No page is loaded. Nothing happens. Everything remains the same the way it is.

Have you tried to duplicate the problem with another browser, such as Firefox? If so, what happens?
Yes. By using Firefox 2.0 all is regular. Indeed, all is right until October 30 (last monday). After that, Internet Explorer 6.0 doesn't run with a JavaScript applet. It is possible to do many things using IE 6.0, except a code execution of a JavaScript applet.

What is your Win2k installation's Service Pack and update status?
Its Service Pack is 4. It is totally updated by the famous site "www.windowsupdate.com". Well, at least until October 30.

What is your IE6 installation's update status?
It is also totally updated by the same aforesaid site. Likewise, at least until October 30.

What version of JavaScript Runtime do you have installed?
I neither know the version of JavaScript Runtime is installed nor where I can find it. I do know I have J2SE Runtime Environment version 5.0 update 9 by the Control Panel. I also know if the JavaScript is enabled in IE 6.0. Where and/or how do I find it to tell you?

Have you uninstalled the Microsoft Virtual Runtime Engine?
No, At least I think (I am not sure) I haven't done it. How do I can assure of that?

If you are using a firewall (and you should be), have you checked its log and its application permissions to see if the problem might be there?
Yes, I am using the ZoneAlarm's firewall. Sincerely speaking to you, no, I haven't checked its log and its application permissions (I agree I should check that data, how do I do that now), but as I have told you, at least until October 30 everything is O.K. about IE 6.0. After that, I have changed nothing as to the firewall's logs and application permissions. One thing I am sure about: Even though the ZoneAlarm's firewall is disabled or shutdown all stays the same way. In other words, I continue having the same problem to be solved.

Thank you for This Fix. I will try it out since I have nothing to lose. Thank you for your hints/tips.
