hello everyone....
i m new to this forum.....i've got stuck deeply into a problem.....i've established client server environment using Windows server2003 standard edition.....right from the time i established this setup, i've been getting this error message "C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe terminated unexpectedly. The system will now shutdown and restart". This message occurs repetedly after every 30-45 min....sometimes doesn't appear for 2-3 days.....i've read that MS has given some solution of this problem in the SP1 of windows server2003....My internet data rate is too slow so i can't downoad SP1 through internet because that'll take a lot of time and i don't have that much time.....moreover this edition doesn't have builtin firewall....plzzzzz temme wht shd i do???
Moreover temme which antivirus is freely available on internet for Windows server 2003??

Download the update onto another machine and burn it to a CD. Alternately, order the CD from Microsoft.
Sounds like the Sasser Worm that made its rounds about 2-3 years ago.
I recommend trying Symantec's removal tool.

Avast has a pretty good selection of free trial antivirus software. Free 60 day trial for professional systems. Not sure if it covers server 2003 but they probably have a version that does.
If you are running a server, I don't think you want to go the cheap route and stick with free antivirus. Pay for it and get the safety you really need.
It looks like there is a firewall in SP1 for Server 2003

Yes, Windows Server 2003 has a built-in firewall, but it must be enabled with Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing.
Go the properties of My Network Places, properties of the Ethernet connection, then the Advanced tab.
