Hello all you Buddhists out there.

Considering only 6% of people out there are Buddhist I wouldn't expect there to be very many.

Ya.

Ok, where the hell do I start.

Sorry, I've been busy and didn't notice your post.

But, then again, I don't profess Buddhism, so I wouldn't be much help.

I have noticed quite a few threads that you, aperson, have started, in which you seem to be searching for your identity. You seem to be expecting to find it within an organized body of religion.
I assure you, what you find won't be your identity. That comes from the inside.

from what little i take from this for myself is that material attachment causes pain and that meditaion is a release from the physical to the spiritual or mental. To me Buddism is all about a hunger for truth than a hunger for worldly distractions.

idk, i could be way off.

Actually this what all religions are about, true faith comes only from the soul.

But it's only 'true' faith if it is in accord with your particular strain of theology (islam) no doubt.

Islam doesn't only mean the religion itself, it means submission (how many times have I repeated myself?) to God's will. Techincally anyone who believes in one God is a believer.

Those who believe, those who are Jews, Christians, and Sabaeans, all who believe in God and the Last Day and act rightly will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow. (Qur'an, 2:62)

Keywords - all who believe...

And of those that believe in many gods? UFOs? Bigfoot?

What distinguishes your faith from theirs?

I have been a practicing Nichiren Buddhist within the Soka Gakkai for 25 years. Send me a PM if you'd like to find out more.

Buddhism believes in each person taking responsibility for his/her own life. We are the masters of our fate. There is too much to say in a thread like this.

aperson, I found the "Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" written/interp. by Sogyal Rinpoche to be extremely helpful while giving me a lot of insight into Buddhist (Tibetan) philosophy.

I don't profess to be a buddhist, and if the others don't think this is a good place to start, I'll happily withdraw!

(I do think buddhist teachers would have been amused at your impatient first three posts, aperson Laughing )

Seems to me that is the place to start.

If you want to learn about roses, a book about them might be a good idea. But if you want to truly know roses a flower is better.
