Hi, I just found out about this site. I have a work project that I need help with. I am practicing with Macros in Excell (I know they are not called Macros, but you know what I mean). Can anyone tell me how to change the background color and text color with a macro?

I am using the record function to record replacing words with blank spaces. In some cases, the words that are deleted are in cell with reverse shading. When the words are deleted, I need the black background to be made white and the text to made black. Does this make any sense??
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hello Flower, maybe this works:

"Selection.Font.ColorIndex = 1
Selection.Interior.ColorIndex = 2"

MORE EXCELL MACRO QUESTIONS
OK, another question. Is there a website that I can go to to get basic Macro instructions? My company does not office Macro training. Some stuff I am able to figure out on my own, but not everything. All of the Excell websites I go to seem to offer everything except beginning macro help.

Any suggestions???

What you need to do is 'switch' on the Formatting toolbar.

Goto: VIEW - TOOLBARS and click on FORMATTING (tick will appear)

Then you will have a range of options to modify the worksheet properties. There should be a bucket icon and a big A icon on the extreme right of the ribbon. Those are FILL colour (bucket) and TEXT colour (the big A). Highlight the cells you want to change and then click on the icon for colour choice.

I am getting there!! Now just need to find out if there is a way to search and replace font color and interior color. Is that possible? I am trying to find cells that have reverse print and change it to regular print.

As usual, any help would be very much appreciated!!

Thanks
