Oh, I'm so sorry, timber!

My dog would have done the same thing. Complete tunnel vision when it comes to chasing birds and small, furry animals. I hope wherever JoJo is now, she's finally chomping on one.

Oh, what a horrible way to lose a dog. I am so sorry Timber for your loss.
It's bad enough when we have to say good bye to our 4-legged friends
when they get old, but to lose them so sudden and dramatic where you had
no chance to say good bye is even worse.

My heart goes out to you, Timber.

A nightly ritual here is Puppies' Bedtime Milk - each of the Puppies has a bowl, sized appropriately to the pup. They look forward to it - and we do too. The bowls all get lined up on the counter for filling, the Puppies wait patiently, each in that pup's designated spot - they know they'll get theirs in turn; there's no scampering and scrambling. The kitchen is filled with the sounds of eager lapping for a few minutes, then its over, and everybody wanders off to a favorite settling down place.

I almost managed not to cry tonight. At least I managed to do it without Mrs. Timber seeing it. And of course, she wants to make sure I think she's doing OK.

Thanks again all - youve helped more than you can know.

Losing a member of your extended family is a shock at first. I guess it doesnt help to say that I lost one the same way and know exactly how you feel.

RIP

It is never easy to lose a member of your family. I am sure JoJo lived a good life in the company of those who loved her. At least you may find some comfort in the fact that it was quick.

I know how much a canine campanion can sew itself into your very being. My heartfelt condolences on this sad, sad loss.

Damn, Timber...

Sorry to hear about your buddy. I know what a shock it is, but like you said, she went out with dignity, doing what she loved.

We should all be so lucky.

My thoughts go out to you and yours...

My sympathies as well, timber. Jojo and her ilk are not members of the extended family...they're full-fledged.

Gorgeous early-autum day; almost cloudless sky, gentle puffs and gusts of breeze, the foliage in full color, shirt-sleeve warm. Took the Puppies into the woods, hung out there for a couple hours. JoJo woulda had a good time ... I woulda liked to have heard her irritatingly insistent yappy little bark.

Thanks again to all for the thoughts.
